Good Friday

Image
Today we looked at hot cross buns and why they are traditionally made on Good Friday. The children had some good discussions around what they symbolise before eating them together. We learnt about the story of  Good Friday and talked together about how the story made us feel.  Later, we joined with the Tigers to create picture representations of Holy week, bringing together their learning from the whole week.  We were so impressed how well the children had thought about each event and the way they felt about them. They have shown a real understanding of the Christian story of Easter.

The Last Supper

Image
Today we have been leaning all about the 'Last Supper' that Jesus had with his disciples. We’ve made bread  Decorated cups to drink ‘wine’ from  Made chalices from clay like the ones from the story Used junk to make the table that Jesus sat at with his friends  We then had our own Passover together and shared the bread we made with some 'wine'  It's been a fantastic morning, the Bears have really enjoyed themselves and have worked so well together. What a great team!

Palm Sunday

Image
The Bears have been given the challenge of performing their version of Palm Sunday as part of our Holy Week celebrations in school. We have been very busy this morning learning about Palm Sunday and preparing for filming this afternoon. Cutting out Palm leaves  Painting the Palm leaves  Making our costumes for the performance Making peg leg donkeys  We have also been learning songs and rehearsing for our video performance, which we are very excited about doing this afternoon!

Bonds to 6 revision

Image
We have been exploring the different ways of making up 6 this morning. The children worked in pairs taking it in turns to throw 6 bean bags into a hoop. They then counted how many of the bean bags landed in the hoop and how many landed outside the hoop. Their partner recorded the results on a whole part model before swapping roles.

High frequency word scavenger hunt

Image
The Bears were very excited this morning to complete their mission of finding all the hidden high frequency words around our school. They worked in pairs hunting for, saying then ticking off the words they had found. I was very impressed by their determination, perseverance and teamwork. Learning these words really does help fluency in reading, it’s so pleasing to see the children becoming more confident with them.
