Code breakers

Image
This morning the Tigers and Bears were challenged to crack special codes in order to find the hidden treasure. They were given mathematical problems to solve. Once they had solved each puzzle they could work out the letters for the next clue.  The children were fantastic, I was particularly impressed with their ability to work together in pairs as well as the way they persevered to crack the challenging codes. Well done infants, you're super stars! Problem solving  Finding the next clue   Finding the treasure!

All About Me artwork

This afternoon, Bears produced these beautiful pieces of art, all about themselves. I’m so proud of the thought and care they put into them. Well done, Bears! Mrs C

Rocket ships and pirate ships

Image
This afternoon, Tigers and Bears worked in teams to design and make a form of transportation out of a large box. Bears had been looking at the story ‘The Dinosaur that Pooped a Planet’ so they made a rocket ship. Year 1s liked the idea of a rocket ship but wanted to make it piratey to fit with our topic, so see if you can spot one peeping out of the window! Year 2s decided on a pirate ship. They all worked so well together and made some fantastic creations, having lots of fun the process.  Another great afternoon!  Mrs C

Outdoor phonics and maths

Image
This morning we played phonics games and maths games outside.  First we did phonics. The children were given sounds, they the had to skip, hop, jump or run to a word that included that sound. They had great fun and were brilliant at sounding out and blending the words, I am very impressed. Each time they found a word with the correct sound and read the word accurately they added a tick next to their name chalked on the floor. Later, I got in a muddle with labelling the amount of blocks in each tower around the playground. The children whizzed round on their bikes, counted the blocks and corrected my mistakes.  What a brilliant bunch. Miss F

Natural treasure book marks

Yesterday we wandered off through the village, collecting things of interest to add to our very own bookmarks. The children were full of enthusiasm, finding a wide variety of wild flowers, interesting grasses, ferns, seeds and leaves. They were able to identify many of the plants they found and we researched anything unfamiliar on our return. We managed to walk up to five wells, where, like last week the children were able to enjoy lovely views of our surrounding area (as well as quick go on the slide as we passed).  Saying hello to the sheep and her now rather large lambs. Enjoying singing the shanties they learnt earlier in the week as they walked. Beautifully arranged natural bookmarks, ready to be laminated and put to good use. What a fantastic bunch you all are, a thoroughly enjoyable time together. Miss F
