The Tiny Seed

We have started to get stuck into our new book ‘The Tiny Seed’, which tells the story of a small seed that is taken on a journey as it’s blown across different landscapes until it finally lands and beds down into the soil and grows into a beautiful, tall flower.

The children started the week by investigating different seeds, looking at size, texture and shape, trying to decide what type of plants they thought they would grow into.

Working in small groups the Bears followed instructions of how to plant the seeds, then labelled them before adding them to the garden centre role play.

The Bears have been thinking about the things that plants need in order to grow and have been tending to the plants in their ‘garden centre’ as well as serving customers and assisting them in the shop. They also assembled seed packets and drew and labelled the type of seeds that are inside and added ‘seeds’ to the packet to sell in the garden centre.

This afternoon the Bears went on a walk to see the different types of plants that are growing around Taddington village, thinking about which ones have and haven’t been planted by humans.
