Our Week In maths, we have been exploring 3D shapes, which shapes roll and which shapes stack. We discovered that shapes need be curved to roll and have a flat face to stack. The drum was a cylinder and could roll. In literacy we have started reading 'Look Up', a story all about a young girl who dreams of becoming an astronaut! We read how Rocket was inspired by Mae Jemison, the first African -American woman in space. Bears didn't think it was fair that African-American people were stopped from following their dreams. We spotted our phonics sounds through our telescope. We then shared, what we dreamed of doing in the future, from becoming an artist to being an ice cream seller. We also counted down as we watched the astronauts take off in the space shuttle and wondered what it would be like to be in space. Bears It was another busy week in Bears! We have been looking at the Topic, Me and My Community. We made portraits of ourselves and talked about t he special people in our live's, families and friendships. We all had such a lovely time making friends at the Friendship Cafe.
