  Pancake Day Bears have been learning all about Shrove Tuesday, Pancake Day. We discussed how Christians would use up all the ingredients before the start of Lent and that's why we have pancakes. We designed our pancakes, made our playdough pancakes, weighed out the ingredients and mixed our batter for making our own pancakes. Our pancakes stuck to the pan! We only had a little taste of one but were looking forward to having lots of them at home!  

 Internet Safety Bears took part in internet safety week and we learnt how to be safe when we are on the internet. We discussed what we would do if something came onto our screen that we did not understand or someone we did not know started to chat to us online. Smartie Penguin gave us some advice, "Before you tap and click, you need to stop and think! And tell someone". Topic - Chinese New Year In our topic this week, we celebrated Chinese New Year, learning about the different traditions and festivals that are celebrated. We practiced our Chinese writing and used our chopsticks to help with our fine motor skills!   We have also been  practicing our balance and coordination,  having fun riding on our bikes and scooters and playing with our parachute.  

  Outdoor Learning We have been exploring the woods in our outdoor learning, looking under rocks and logs to find different habitats. We observed that the insects lived under the rocks and leaves where it was dark and safe from birds and other predators.

                           Christingle Bears welcomed visitors from St Michael and All Angels church who helped us make the Christingles for the service at the church.

Our Week  As part of our topic Long Ago, we have been looking at stories from the past. Bears shared the story  The Tiger Who Came to Tea  .  As we read the story, we talked about the pictures and compared the little girl's life and her parents with our lives. In the past, people had milk delivered by the milkman, we asked if anyone have milk delivered and where do we buy our milk? Does it come in plastic cartons or glass bottles? We then looked at the picture of the little girl and her mum having tea, and discussed the different things we have for tea. When we looked at the picture of the kitchen in the story, we noticed it looked different to our kitchens, there are no kitchen machines! Bears enjoyed and shared a tea of jam sandwiches that we had made and then went to visit our café in the role play area. In literacy, Bears have been reading the Magic Paintbrush.   Our Week  Welcome back to school! Bears have had a busy week starting our new topic, Long Ago. In the Long Ago project, we will be learning all about our history and how we have changed from when we were babies. We will be learning about our heritage and find out what life was like when our parents and grandparents were children, what it was like to go to school in the past and how everyday objects, such as clothes, toys and vehicles have changed. We have been sharing objects, stories and memories from our parents, from an old Beatles record to a medals! We look forward to sharing more stories, interesting objects and photographs from history over the next few weeks.    In our construction area, we made models of buildings from long, long ago! We have been looking at and discussing photographs of children and objects from long ago. We observed that they were black and white and not colour. Telephones looked different, there were no mobile phones and we had to use...

  Our Week  This week Bears have been learning all about the meaning of Christmas.  We have decorated our Christmas tree, been exploring the story of the Nativity and took part in our performance of Baarmy Bethlehem. We were invited to visit St Micheal and All Angels church for biscuits, juice and to listen to the Nativity story. In our topic Puppets and Pop-ups, we practiced our cutting skills and made our own nativity scenes.
