Cod Benson

We have been reading the story ‘Halibut Jackson’. At the start of the story Halibut is shy and tries to blend in by wearing suits that match his surroundings. Halibut manages to over come this and becomes more confident. He opens up a suit shop where he is able make lots of friends and showcase his talents.

The children have been enjoying managing the suit shop in our class, where they have role-played helping customers choose clothes for different occasions and ensure the shop runs smoothly from day to day.

Yesterday the Bears found a letter in Halibut’s post box from Cod Benson asking for help to overcome his shyness. The Bears thought of ideas to help Cod and replied to the letter as a group.

Today we’ve started to plan a story about Cod by dressing up as him and thinking of places he would go to wearing that suit.

The Bears decided Cod would wear this suit to visit the sheep.

This suit to sit on Hatty’s grey sofa...

...and this one in the garden to match the flowers.

We then started to plan the first part of our story by story-boarding in the style of ‘Halibut Jackson’.
