Positional language

This week we have been using positional language in a variety of different ways.

The children have listened and responded to instructions about how to complete an assault course, going ‘over’, ‘under’ ‘around’ etc different obstacles. As well as directing each other around the course using the same language.

They’ve told each other instructions about how position hidden Lego bricks in different ways. For example ‘put the yellow brick on top of the blue and green brick’.

We’ve also been on a bear hunt. This activity involved the children hiding a bear around the outdoor area for their partner to find. They had to describe where the bear was hidden and if their partner found it they could keep the bear. The pair with the most bears won.

This week we’ve also started our new book ‘Halibut Jackson’. Yesterday, the bears used the positional language they’ve been learning to describe where Halibut is in the different scenes. They used their phonics knowledge as well as the high frequency words they’ve been learning to describe a picture.

The bears continue to amaze me every day. Keep up the fabulous, hard work.
