Numbers to 20

 This week we’ve been exploring teen numbers. The children have been identifying numbers from 10-20 and representing them in lots of different ways.  We have played lots of games, made numbers with play dough and built towers using two colours to show the ten and ones.  Active number identification game, using the number line to support     Making numbers to 20 using Numicon Making numbers using bead strings    

The Tiny Seed

 We have started to get stuck into our new book ‘The Tiny Seed’, which tells the story of a small seed that is taken on a journey as it’s blown across different landscapes until it finally lands and beds down into the soil and grows into a beautiful, tall flower.  The children started the week by investigating different seeds, looking at size, texture and shape, trying to decide what type of plants they thought they would grow into.  Working in small groups the Bears followed instructions of how to plant the seeds, then labelled them before adding them to the garden centre role play.  The Bears have been thinking about the things that plants need in order to grow and have been tending to the plants in their ‘garden centre’ as well as serving customers and assisting them in the shop. Easter Sunday

 Today, Tigers and Bears learnt about Jesus’ resurrection and why Easter is such an important celebration for Christians. We then went up to the woods for a fire, symbolising Jesus as Light of the World.
