Numbers to 20

 This week we’ve been exploring teen numbers. The children have been identifying numbers from 10-20 and representing them in lots of different ways. 

We have played lots of games, made numbers with play dough and built towers using two colours to show the ten and ones.

Our Week

 Our Week In maths, we have been exploring 3D shapes, which shapes roll and which shapes stack.  We discovered that shapes need be curved to roll and have a flat face to stack. The drum was a cylinder and could roll. In literacy we have started reading 'Look Up', a story all about a young girl who dreams of becoming an astronaut!  We read how Rocket was inspired by Mae Jemison, the first African -American woman in space. Bears didn't think it was fair that African-American people were stopped from following their dreams. We spotted our phonics sounds through our telescope. We then shared, what we dreamed of doing in the future, from becoming an artist to being an ice cream seller. We also counted down as we watched the astronauts take off in the space shuttle and wondered what it would be like to be in space. We then practiced our 'mark making', drawing our space rockets with chalks and pretending to be rockets flying into space.  In our topic Marvellous Machines, w

Our first week in Bears
