Look up!

It's been a very exciting week! We came in to discover a telescope and new book 'Look up!' had been left in our room. We think they must have been left by the character 'Rocket' from the story.

The Bears decided that the story must be about space by looking at the clues on the front cover. Then after reading the first part of the story, they inferred that 'Rocket' must have got her name because of her love of space and her ambition to become an astronaut just like the first African-American women to travel to space- Mae Jemison.

We’ve really enjoyed getting into the topic- travelling off into space in the ‘space ship’, discovering the wonders of space, controlling the ship, logging information and reporting back to Earth!

We’ve also been busy learning about the planets by listening to songs informing us of their features, then making marble effect pictures of each one based on what we learnt.

We've created our own aliens using pastels and junk materials

As well as creating life size space ships out of natural materials in the woods.

It's been a fabulous week so far, I'm so excited for what's next!
