Hello David Attenborough!

 The Bears have really shown off their oracy skills this morning. We have been inspired by our story 'Leo and the Octopus'. Leo meets an octopus at the aquarium and decides to research them so that he can have a better understanding. Not only does Leo learn about the characteristics of octopuses but also about friendship- something he doesn't have much experience of. 

We have learnt so many facts about Octopuses through our story as well as our own research. Today, we decided to do our own narration of a documentary about Octopuses. The children worked in groups to write a script- writing down the facts they have gathered to go with the muted documentary. They then presented to the rest of the class, doing their best David Attenborough impressions!

 Our Week In maths, we have been exploring 3D shapes, which shapes roll and which shapes stack.  We discovered that shapes need be curved to roll and have a flat face to stack. The drum was a cylinder and could roll. In literacy we have started reading 'Look Up', a story all about a young girl who dreams of becoming an astronaut!  We read how Rocket was inspired by Mae Jemison, the first African -American woman in space. Bears didn't think it was fair that African-American people were stopped from following their dreams. We spotted our phonics sounds through our telescope. We then shared, what we dreamed of doing in the future, from becoming an artist to being an ice cream seller. We also counted down as we watched the astronauts take off in the space shuttle and wondered what it would be like to be in space.
