Our Week 

In our topic Marvellous Machines, we have been exploring how different machines work and their uses. Bears have been enjoying making their own machines and playing in the ice.  We made a 'lemonade maker' and 'slushy maker'. 







In literacy, we have been finishing our book 'Look Up'. We retold the story from the beginning, looked at what happened next and talked about what happened at the end of the story. We used our pictures to sequence the story and then we imagined what we would look up to in the sky and wrote our own stories.  We practiced our writing using our phonic sticks, creating words using our sounding out in phonics and writing in our books.










On a Friday morning, Bears enjoy DEAR time, Drop Everything and Read.





Bears have practicing our Nativity! We have enjoyed singing the songs and are looking forward to showing everyone the full Nativity next week!

 Our Week In maths, we have been exploring 3D shapes, which shapes roll and which shapes stack.  We discovered that shapes need be curved to roll and have a flat face to stack. The drum was a cylinder and could roll. In literacy we have started reading 'Look Up', a story all about a young girl who dreams of becoming an astronaut!  We read how Rocket was inspired by Mae Jemison, the first African -American woman in space. Bears didn't think it was fair that African-American people were stopped from following their dreams. We spotted our phonics sounds through our telescope. We then shared, what we dreamed of doing in the future, from becoming an artist to being an ice cream seller. We also counted down as we watched the astronauts take off in the space shuttle and wondered what it would be like to be in space. We then practiced our 'mark making', drawing our space rockets with chalks and pretending to be rockets flying into space.  In our topic Marvellous Machines, w

Bears It was another busy week in Bears!  We have been looking at the Topic, Me and My Community. We made portraits of ourselves and talked about t he special people in our live's, families and friendships. We all had such a lovely time making friends at the Friendship Cafe.

Our first week in Bears

Welcome to Bears - Week 1 It was a busy first week in Bears!
