Bears were invited to a very special celebration, a role play of a Christening. We dressed up and learnt all about how Christians celebrate the beginning of their faith journey. Rev Sue told us all about what happens at a Christening service, also known as a baptism. Bears took part in the promises from the God parents and the congregation to support the child in their faith journey. We then learnt how in a baptism water is taken from the font, is blessed and poured over the babies head. Bears named the baby "Jesus". We then celebrated by singing Hymns together.

 Our Week In maths, we have been exploring 3D shapes, which shapes roll and which shapes stack.  We discovered that shapes need be curved to roll and have a flat face to stack. The drum was a cylinder and could roll. In literacy we have started reading 'Look Up', a story all about a young girl who dreams of becoming an astronaut!  We read how Rocket was inspired by Mae Jemison, the first African -American woman in space. Bears didn't think it was fair that African-American people were stopped from following their dreams. We spotted our phonics sounds through our telescope. We then shared, what we dreamed of doing in the future, from becoming an artist to being an ice cream seller. We also counted down as we watched the astronauts take off in the space shuttle and wondered what it would be like to be in space. Bears It was another busy week in Bears!  We have been looking at the Topic, Me and My Community. We made portraits of ourselves and talked about t he special people in our live's, families and friendships. We all had such a lovely time making friends at the Friendship Cafe.
