Code breakers

This morning the Tigers and Bears were challenged to crack special codes in order to find the hidden treasure. They were given mathematical problems to solve. Once they had solved each puzzle they could work out the letters for the next clue.  The children were fantastic, I was particularly impressed with their ability to work together in pairs as well as the way they persevered to crack the challenging codes. Well done infants, you're super stars!

Our Week

 Our Week In maths, we have been exploring 3D shapes, which shapes roll and which shapes stack.  We discovered that shapes need be curved to roll and have a flat face to stack. The drum was a cylinder and could roll. In literacy we have started reading 'Look Up', a story all about a young girl who dreams of becoming an astronaut!  We read how Rocket was inspired by Mae Jemison, the first African -American woman in space. Bears didn't think it was fair that African-American people were stopped from following their dreams. We spotted our phonics sounds through our telescope. We then shared, what we dreamed of doing in the future, from becoming an artist to being an ice cream seller. We also counted down as we watched the astronauts take off in the space shuttle and wondered what it would be like to be in space.
